GETTING HERE

We are located off of Hwy. 89, north of Prescott and Chino Valley, just south of Paulden, at mile marker 335 and Rolling Hills Road.  Turn west on Rolling Hills Road and follow the signs to Gunsite.  We are located about 3 miles from Hwy. 89.

NOTE:  Most GPS systems and map programs (for example, Mapquest) will not give you reliable directions to Gunsite.

Many of our clients fly to Phoenix, Arizona and rent a car.  The drive from the airport to Gunsite takes about 2 hours.  Those with private aircraft can fly into Prescott (KPRC).  Commercial flights from Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Phoenix to Prescott are sometimes available.

If you are staying in Chino Valley you should allow about 20 minutes driving time to get to class.  If staying in Prescott, allow 35-45 minutes

REGISTRATION

Please arrive at the classroom no later than 7:30AM the first day of class for final registration.  Classes begin at 8:00AM and generally run to about 4 – 4:30PM.  There is a lunch break each day and classes with night shoots will break for dinner prior to the night shoot.  Your Rangemaster will explain the schedule for the week and let you know where you need to be each morning and afternoon.

LUNCHES

Due to our location driving to town for lunch is impractical.  If you wish to bring your own lunch there is a refrigerator in the lunch area for your use.  If you wish to order lunches from our caterer a menu will be provided at registration.  Lunches cost $8.00 per day.  You may pay the caterer for the lunches you have ordered at noon the first day of class (cash or checks).

WATER

Water is provided at the classroom and on the ranges and we will provide you with an insulated drinking bottle.  Gatorade is provided on the ranges during warmer weather.  There are drink machines in the lunch area and you may bring your own drinks and snacks.

SHIPPING AMMUNITION OR FIREARMS TO GUNSITE

Some clients prefer to ship firearms and/or ammunition to the school rather than traveling with them.  You may ship firearms directly to us and we can ship them back to your home address after class. We are a federally licensed dealer; you do not have to ship firearms from a dealer to send them here for class.  Although firearms may be shipped via U.S. Postal Service, we strongly recommend you ship them through UPS or FedEx.  Both UPS and FedEx require handguns to be shipped Next Day Air.  Long guns may be shipped by UPS or FedEx Ground. Please mark any firearms or ammunition sent for a class with your name andclass date. We will hold them for you. You can pick up these shipments in the Pro Shop the first morning of class

Our shipping address is:

                                    Gunsite Academy, Inc.
                                    2900 W. Gunsite Rd.
                                    Paulden, AZ  86334-4301

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY IN OUR CLASSES

Gunsite training is not boot camp or commando school.  Our classes involve light to moderate physical activity such as standing, walking about, holding a rifle or shotgun, or repeatedly drawing a pistol. Most classes include shooting from supported positions such as kneeling, sitting or prone.  If you are physically unable to shoot from supported positions we will not require you to do so.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL CLASSES

High quality, shatterproof, eye protection is required.  For classes with night shoots, clear glasses will be needed.
Ear protection (plugs or muffs).  Electronic, amplified ear protection is preferred.
Elbow and knee pads are recommended, a shooting mat is optional; we do not provide them so bring your own or purchase one here if you would like to use one.
We recommend factory ammunition.  High quality reloaded ammunition is acceptable.
We recommend flashlights with a rear pressure switch, such as those made by SureFire, for classes with night shoots.
Clothing should be appropriate for the climate and time of year.  We are located in the high Arizona desert at an altitude of about 4600 - 4800 feet; if you wish to check the weather forecast prior to your visit look up Chino Valley, Arizona
A hat or ball cap is required in all of our classes.
Sunscreen and other protective clothing such as long sleeved shirts and long trousers are recommended.
Shoes or boots should be comfortable and provide good support.  Trousers should be loose fitting to allow movement and have wide belt loops.
